Phone systems of the future are here

Phone Systems of the Future are Here

The Wireless Cellular phone system of the future will be designed to work in a home or home office. It combines the old with the new and it uses digital landline corded phones and/or cordless phones and a new Wireless Cellular phone that has three frequencies so that it will work with US or European GSM Cellular tower systems and is wi-fi compatible. some devices may be even Cell Phone Satellite compatible.

There is a base station that is wi-fi compatible, is connected to the internet and uses VOip for long distance communications. The existing landline systems in either a house or small business is disconnected from the traditional landline system but the digital corded landline phones connect to the existing phone jacks and one of the phone jacks connects to the base station. The cordless phone system also connects to the base station. The cordless phones are strategically located on either end of the house with one of them in the home office. The corded phones are used in rooms like a bedroom where the phone is used less often. On occasion the cordless phone may get lost but you will always be able to find a corded phone.

The wireless cellular phone will look for a wi-fi system and use the internet for VOip communications as a first choice but when that is not available it will seek out a wireless cellular phone tower. The Wireless cellular phone has a Cell Phone GPS chip that will transmit the phone location when the cell phone is activating a 911 call, or when trying to locate the closest cellular phone tower or when being used to locate someone in an emergency situation or when the user is trying to find their location and when the user is using the phone as a location device to find a restaurant or get directions.

This new cell phone is keyless with a touch screen, is voice activated, and comes with a special protection case that not only protects the cell phone touch screen from metal keys in your pocket but also contains a light metal plate that deflects any EMF radiation coming from the phone while the phone is located in ones pocket or purse. The Bluetooth headsets will be voice activated and they come on only when the cell phone is receiving a call or when the user is manually initiating a call.

The cell phone is a PDA or blackberry like device and is capable of sending and receiving emails, text messaging, taking pictures and uploading the pictures to the internet, and as an organizer it keeps track of appointments, is an alarm clock, is a MP3 player and will play movies and a receive and play TV programs.

One of the goals of the cell phone service providers is to come up with more reasons that the cell phone needs to be online to increase air time and therefore generate more revenues. The wi-fi to VOip feature has taken a big chunk out of the airtime usage of the cell phone so more and more devices are being added to Wireless Cell Phones to keep the air time usage at a maximum.

Most of the above features already exist in various systems and cell phones but do not exist as one system or one cell phone. In the future Phone systems will combine all of the above features and more into one system and one Wireless Cellular Phone device.

The Advantages of this futuristic phone system is it merges existing technology with new technology saving on operating cost especially long distance calling and makes the home office a more efficient work environment that you will be able to take with you where ever you go.

Lucrative freelance writing assignments

Lucrative freelance writing assignments

No matter where you live, landing lucrative writing assignments does not need to be difficult. The secret to a profitable freelance writing career is to start small and build it from there. Another secret… you must remember to promote your business on a REGULAR basis. Do not shoot off a few ads or letters, then wait three months before launch another campaign. Promote your business DAILY. So here is your first technique: Approach your local newspaper editor. Ask if they need a freelancer to cover city council, school board, and/or county board meetings. If they do, you are on your way earning a living as a writer because you are about to earn tons of clips. You will also start making valuable business contacts. More on that later…. Armed with your local clips, you can start approaching bigger freelance markets. Markets like small and mid-sized magazines that are hungry for new articles. Start querying them and wait for their response. (Technique 2) While you are waiting to hear from your magazine queries, chat with few of the mayors, city council people, school board members, etc. that you have met at your meetings. Most of them are business people. Ask if they need a freelancer to update their brochures, write ads or direct mail letters, or if they need a writer-for-hire for a project they have brewing. You would be surprised how many business people will take you up on your offer after they have witnessed your diligence and accuracy while covering their meetings. (Technique 3) Now target local businesses and contact them. Offer to write their marketing materials. (Technique 4) To start attracting more commercial clients, run a small ad in your local paper. As your expertise increases, place more ads in surrounding papers. (Technique 5) Join your local Chamber of Commerce. You will meet even more business owners who may need a freelance writer and you will make invaluable contacts. (Technique 6) Send out a direct mail piece advertising your writing services. If you are not comfortable writing direct mail, you can put together a newsletter. Target the businesses you would like to work with and make sure you contact them on a regular basis. (Technique 7) Another technique to keep the money rolling in as a freelance writer is to keep lots of irons in the fire. Along with the magazine queries and copywriting, always have a book in the works and send publishers proposals for it. Another idea: I know one local freelancer who has cultivated a devoted clientele who has her write all their correspondence… including Christmas letters. Your projects are limited only by your imagination. (Technique 8) Make goals each day. Decide how many queries you will send out. Decide how many sales letters you will mail. How many words are you going to write in your book? How many new contacts are you going to make this week? Make your goals… then follow through with them. (Technique 9) Ask and you may receive. Do not be afraid to ask for what you want. If you are a stringer for your local newspaper, ask the editor if it is possible for them to run a small ad promoting your business at a discount (after all you are a staff writer.) If you write for local businesses, ask them to recommend your writing services to their friends. (Technique 10) Never tell anyone your phone number. GIVE it to them. Print a bunch of business cards and whenever anyone asks for your phone number, give them your card instead. (Technique 11) Network. Make friends in the freelance writing. Give each other leads and help each other become the best writers you can be. (Technique 12) Carry your latest project with you. If you have written a book, bring it wherever you go. If you just finished a big copywriting project, have it nearby. Got an article in the latest issue of a magazine or newspaper? Better bring it with you…. Nothing sparks a conversation faster than “What ‘cha been up to lately?” Then, next thing you know, you have got a prospective customer. (Technique 13) I know, I know… I promised twelve strategies to start making money ASAP as a freelance writer. But I got on a roll and thirteen (I have heard) is an unlucky number so here is one more strategy. Read. Read everything you can get your hands on. If you write novels, read novels. If you write direct mail, read EVERY piece of direct mail that land on your doorstep. If you write ads, read ads. Read what your competition is writing. Read what your friends are writing. Make note of what “works” for you and what does not. Then write something better. Read e-mags that will help you make your writing as sharp as possible. Perfect your craft, become the best writer you can be, promote your business, and you will have more work than you can handle. So there you have it. Fourteen fantastic strategies to land lucrative writing assignments and make a great living as a freelance writer. The possibilities are endless. Find out what works for you, then run with it. You just may find yourself earning a very nice income.

Offering a guarantee: increase attendance by promising value

Offering A Guarantee: Increase Attendance By Promising Value

Many event planners, especially in the seminar and commercial events verticals, are always looking for new and innovative ways to increase attendance and revenue. While many event organizers have instituted strict refund policies when you register for an event they may actually be hurting their bottom line instead of protecting revenue.

Think about it: do you trust me more if I tell you that there are a lot of rules surrounding the return of my product, or if I tell you that if you’re not satisfied, for any reason at all you can return the product, no questions asked? The answer is in the implication that there may be a reason to return the product versus the assumption that there couldn’t possibly be a reason to return the item. And the same is true for services or events.

Getting Away from Refund Policies

Countless times when we’ve explained to meeting planners that their complex refund policies may actually be hurting them they have been in disbelief. It’s understandable because refund policies are supposed to protect the event organizer from people taking advantage of their event and then getting their money back and thereby getting something for nothing.

But the downside to refund policies is that they can have a negative effect on potential registrants. The negative effects of refund policies come in two forms: questioning and hesitation.

When a potential attendee sees a complex refund policy it may occur to them that the reason you have such a complex and upfront policy is because you have received many refund requests in the past. Could this be because your event doesn’t deliver as promised? Do you not trust your attendees? Many questions spring to mind that may give your potential attendee second thoughts.

Any hesitation on the part of your potential attendee is a distraction that prevents them from completing registration and attending your event. If your potential attendees need to plan several months or quarters ahead to attend your event a restrictive refund policy could be a factor in them not registering right away. If you have done all the advertising and marketing to get your registration form in front of an attendee you don’t want anything on the form that would cause them to think “maybe I should come back next week…” or “maybe I should put this off until I know my schedule better.” If you require lots of commitment upfront, you are going to lose a lot of potential registrants.

How to Structure a Guarantee

Unconditional, money-back guarantees are the way to go when you want to offer assurance to your registrants that the value you promise is the value they will receive. Whenever you’re selling something confidence is what helps you close the deal. No one wants to deal with someone who isn’t confident in their ability to do as promised.

Publicizing your guarantee is as easy as showing the guarantee everywhere you mention the price of your event. Put this in your emails, promotional materials, registration form and registration website.

Our experience has shown that offering a guarantee increases registrations to the point where any refunds you do actually need to give out are far outweighed by the extra revenue. Try it out with your next event and let us know the results!

Plymouth and the impact of the recession

Plymouth and the Impact of the Recession

Plymouth is located on coast of England, and therefore the economy has traditionally been maritime, most notably the armed forces. Over twelve thousand people have been employed with the defence sector in Plymouth. Devonport Dockyard is the only naval base in the UK that refits nuclear submarines, and it is estimated that it makes 10% of Plymouth’s total income.

Since the beginning of 2008, Britain’s businesses and economy has been affected by the biggest recession since the very early 90’s. Nearly everyone has been hit by it and companies all around the UK have had to cut jobs to try and save the money that they have been losing. However, many small companies have not survived the recession as they could not handle the money losses and have unfortunately had to go into administration. The house prices have fallen by almost 3% in the UK over the past year, and the banks have stopped giving out big loans like they used to. This is proof of the fall in the economy.

Plymouth City Council is helping the residents of Plymouth, through this tough time, by drawing up a £645,833 contract. The contract is to provide free, confidential and professional advice to those who have been seriously affected by the credit crunch. This is all part of the Council’s Financial Inclusion Strategy, which they adopted earlier in the year. The key aims of the strategy include:

– Maximising the take up of tax credits and ‘in-work’ benefits
– Reducing personal debt, child and fuel poverty
– Helping people get back to work

The award of the contract is on top of the Council’s recession response package, which includes the development of local credit unions and to provide a mortgage and rent debts adviser. The decision to award the contract was made by Councillor Brookshaw and will come into effect on 1st September 2009.
