Promotional uses of printed T shirts

Printed T-shirts may be used for the purpose of promoting a company, a cause, a message among other things. The use of this medium has become increasingly popular because of the ease in which these shirts are made and the lasting impact this promotional tactic may have once people are wearing them. For a few thousand/hundreds of dollars (depending on the amount needed), T-shirts can be mass-produced with a logo, design or the like and given to a large cross section of people, some who may wear it thus giving resonance to this promotional strategy.

Using Printed T-shirts for a Variety of Promotions

Printed T-shirts may be used by a number of different entities for divergent reasons. The main aim of using this method of promotion is to increase awareness about whatever it is you are marketing.

Uses:

  • To promote a cause. Many non-profit organizations use printed T-shirts to spread their message. This is a very good approach as they can combine well written and catchy phrases that can be placed on a T-shirt to help promote a specific cause. For example if a group decides to start increasing people’s awareness about the benefits of recycling. They may use a catchy/affecting quote (much better than this one but suitable for this example): “Recycled Paper: because a tree doesn’t have to die”. While the matter is still somewhat controversial with many detractors suggesting that recycling does not help in the long run, the group’s message will still grab those who are likely to be swayed by the argument.
  • To promote a brand. If a company is emerging or already has a successful brand name using printed T-shirts to promote and maintain interest in that logo is useful. Normally the logo will not take up the entire shirt but will still be impressive enough to generate an interest from those who may see it on a wearer of this shirt.
  • To promote a message. The printed t-shirt may be used to promote a number of messages that we may see regularly in social marketing campaigns. A few of the more popular ones include those that condemn drinking and driving and doing drugs, those that promote safer sex practices, others that promote religious or secular messages among other things.
  • To promote a company. Most companies tend to periodically print T-shirts with their company name to give to customers, other times they may use this at launches or other PR type events where the company is trying to make itself more ubiquitous.
  • To promote a politician. These are usually very popular during the election season. Along with bumper stickers, pins and mugs the printed t-shirt is perhaps a favourite. There are some that are made specifically to highlight and glorify a prefered candidate while there are others that are created to vilify an unfavourable candidate, these two elements may be combined in some scenarios. However these are not necessarily printed by the politicians themselves but independent t-shirt printers who may sell these for a small profit.
  • To promote a musical act. There are many T-shirts that are  created specifically to promote bands and musicians.

Basically anything can be promoted using a printed T-shirt. Once an idea is concrete and transferable to the medium via a message, a logo or a design it can then be marketed as such.
